We recommend the use of the UltraFit probe stabilisation headset designed to fit children as young as six right up to the largest adults.

Advantages of UltraFit headset:
  • Keeps the probe in the midsagittal plane so the tongue shapes are faithful
  • Keeps the probe in a fixed relation to the hard palate so a hard palate overlay can be used to provide reference for alveolar vs velar place of articulation
  • Neither the client nor clinician needs to hold the probe in place.
  • Reduces the chance of the probe being dropped and damaged.
Disadvantages of UltraFit headset:
  • Extra cost (£850)
  • 5 minutes to fit the headset
